IPL 2022 | Rahul Tewatia once again snatched the victory from the mouth of Punjab Kings in the IPL. Gujarat Titans batsman Tevatia once again hit the headlines for hitting two sixes in the last two balls at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Even before this, he had led his team to victory by hitting four consecutive sixes against Punjab Kings. However, at that time Tewatia did this feat for Rajasthan Royals in 2020. But now he has achieved this feat for the new IPL team Gujarat Titans. Both the times he has done this feat against Punjab itself. Tewatia then targeted West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell while playing for Rajasthan Royals and now took on another Caribbean pacer Odin Smith while playing for Gujarat.

Tewatia, after playing a brilliant innings to win the match for Gujarat, said, 'It feels great when you win like this. I didn't have much to think about but I knew I had to get down and put on a sixer. Smith bowled the first ball well outside the off-stump. That's why I had already planned that I have to shoot something similar. The dressing room is actually very quiet. Ashu Bhai (Nehra), Gary Kirsten and the support staff have done a really good job. We have just been asked to implement the plans well and back it up well.

This is only the second time in IPL history, when a batsman has won the match for his team by hitting two sixes in the last two balls. Earlier in 2016, MS Dhoni had won the Pune Supergiants by hitting two sixes in the last two balls. Tewatia's bat speaks a lot against Punjab Kings. If statistics are to be believed, he has scored 49 runs in the last 10 balls against Punjab Kings while chasing the target of runs in the IPL. During this, his strike rate has been 490 and Tewatia has hit sixes in eight balls out of these 10 balls. Tewatia was bought by Gujarat in the IPL auction 2022 for Rs 9 crore.
