IND vs ZIM / Rahul Tripathi likely be handed ODI debut against Zimbabwe

IND vs ZIM | Under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, Team India is going to leave for Zimbabwe tour in the next few days, where it has to play a three-match ODI series. These ODI matches between the two teams are to be played on August 18, 20 and 22. While one team of India is going to participate in the Asia Cup 2022, the other team will go on tour to Zimbabwe. In the absence of senior players, Rahul Tripathi can make his ODI debut against Zimbabwe.

On the Zimbabwe tour, the Indian team needs a dynamic batsman like Rahul, who can move the scoreboard. Team India has adopted a new approach in the current season and keeping this in mind, Rahul can get a chance. Opener Rahul has had to play the role of the middle order in the IPL in the last few seasons and now he has done well on that front as well.

Insidesports quoted a member of the selection committee as saying, “We need a dynamic batsman in ODIs. The World Cup is more than a year away but we have to work on bench strength as well. Rahul Tripathi is one such player who keeps the scorecard running. We all want base cover and you can see him playing in Zimbabwe."

Tripathi made his international debut for India on the tour of Ireland after a stellar performance in IPL 2022, where he scored 413 runs at an average of 158.24. He is still uncapped but could get a chance in the absence of seniors.
