Gujarat heavy on Chennai in head to head

Talking about head to head, a total of four matches have been played between the two teams so far, in which Gujarat has won thrice and Chennai once.

Chennai is the champion of 4 times

Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is one of the most successful teams in the tournament. The team has won the most four titles in the tournament after Mumbai (five titles). The team reached the playoffs in 12 out of 14 seasons and is playing the finals for the 10th time.

Chennai have won nine and lost five out of 15 matches (league stage and playoffs) played so far this season. And one match was canceled due to rain. Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Mahish Teekshana and Mathish Pathirana can be the 4 foreign players of the team.

Conway has scored 625 runs, Rituraj Gaikwad 564 runs and Ajinkya Rahane 299 runs in 13 matches for Chennai this season while Shivam Dubey has scored 386 runs. Dubey has hit 33 sixes in this IPL. In bowling, Pathirana has taken 17 wickets and Deshpande has taken 21 wickets.

The pressure on Gujarat to defend the title

In the last IPL season, 2 new teams from Lucknow and Gujarat were added. Both reached the playoffs, but Gujarat surprised everyone by winning the title. This time also the team entered the tournament with almost the same players. Gujarat, captained by Hardik Pandya, will be under pressure to defend the title. The team has played a total of 16 matches so far this season (league stage and playoffs), in which it has won 11 and lost five.

David Miller, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed and Joshua Little can be the 4 foreign players of the team against Chennai. Apart from these, players like Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya are in excellent form.

Dhoni's biggest challenge for CSK will be to contain the bat of Gill, who has scored three centuries and 851 runs. Mohammed Shami (28 wickets), Rashid Khan (27 wickets) and Mohit Sharma (24 wickets) have done their job well. At the same time, apart from Gill, Pandya has scored 325 runs in batting.

Pitch report

The pitch of the Narendra Modi Stadium helps the batsmen a lot. There will be a completely opposite atmosphere from the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. If there is pace and bounce for fast bowlers, then the outfield will also be fast. Spin bowlers have a lot of trouble on this pitch. Dew will also play an important role in the evening.

A total of eight matches have been played at the Narendra Modi ground this season, in which Gujarat has won five and lost three. Here the team batting first has won five times while the chasing team has won three times. Only one match has been played between Gujarat and Chennai on this ground, in which Gujarat won.
