England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been in and out of the side due to injury concerns over the last couple of months. Even in the ongoing South Africa tour, he only played a solitary Test match before sitting out for the next three games of the series and then was also ruled out of the T20I series as well. However, in the latest blow to England and the Rajasthan Royals, Archer has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka tour and the upcoming IPL season as well.

The Caribbean born-fast bowler underwent scans on Wednesday on his return to the UK from South Africa. And it was confirmed that he has sustained a low-grade stress fracture to his right elbow. Jofra Archer is expected to be out of action for three months now. He is expected to make his international comeback in June with England set to play the West Indies in three Tests.

The news of Jofra Archer getting ruled out of the Sri Lanka tour and the subsequent IPL was confirmed by The Guardian.

A huge blow to the Rajasthan Royals

Jofra Archer was one of the better performers for the Royals in the previous season. He had picked 11 wickets in as many matches and conceded only 6.76 runs per over. The franchise had retained him ahead of the upcoming season and would’ve hoped for the pacer to perform in the same vein again. But they will have to look for the replacements now.

As far as England is concerned, they will be hoping for Jofra Archer to get fit and match ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. He has played only a solitary T20I for England so far which was against Pakistan last year before the 50-over World Cup and the ECB would clearly want him to play more matches ahead of the marquee event later this year.

Archer has so far played 95 T20 matches in his career and has picked 121 wickets at an exceptional average of 22.47. His economy rate is also under 8 which is great for a fast bowler who regularly bowls in the powerplay and at the death.
