In the second match played on Sunday in IPL, Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 3 runs. LSG had a target of 166 runs, in response to which Lucknow could score only 162/8 and lost the match. Quinton de Kock (39) was the top scorer. Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets for RR. Earlier, after losing the toss, playing first, Rajasthan scored 165 for 6 wickets. Shimron Hetmyer was the top scorer with 6 sixes in the innings. He played an unbeaten innings of 59 runs. Gautam and Holder took 2-2 wickets for Lucknow.

Chahal's blast

Kuldeep Sen, playing his first match, clean bowled Deepak Hooda, who was in excellent form, for 25 runs. After this, Yuzvendra Chahal gave the fifth blow to Lucknow by running young sensation Ayush Badoni for 5 runs. Chahal did not stop here and also made De Kock his victim after scoring 39 runs. It seemed that Krunal Pandya would make a comeback to Lucknow in the match, but he too was clean bowled by Chahal for 22 runs. Dushmantha Chamira became Yuzvendra's fourth victim.

The highest run for RR came from Hetmyer's bat, he played an unbeaten knock of 59 runs in 36 balls. During this, 6 sixes and 1 four came off his bat.

Great bowling by Gautam

In the 10th over of the match, Krishnappa Gautam bowled amazingly and dismissed Raisie Van Der Dussen and Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal scored 29 runs in 29 balls with the help of four fours. At the same time, only 4 runs came off Dusan's bat.

Avesh gave first success to Lucknow

Avesh Khan, giving Lucknow the first breakthrough, clean bowled the dangerous Jos Buttler. Butler scored 13 runs in 11 balls. During this, 1 four and 1 six came off his bat. He was proving to be dangerous, when Avesh sent him to the pavilion on the very first ball of the sixth over.

LSG made two changes to replace Evin Lewis and Andrew Tye with Marcus Stoinis and Dushmantha Chamera. At the same time, RR has included Raisie Van Der Dusen and Kuldeep Sain in place of Navdeep Saini and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Rajasthan may play on another foreign player

Jos Buttler's in-form is a big plus point for Rajasthan, as he has helped the team post big scores on two occasions. Devdutt Padikkal was not expected to shine in the middle order, as he is basically an opener, but he has done well in the middle order so far. Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer are also looking to be in stormy form. The main concern of Rajasthan is about the bowling.

Navdeep Saini has proved to be expensive in the last few matches. Riyan Parag has been kept in the team for batting at number six and he is not bowling. This is when Rajasthan are playing with just three overseas players Josh Butler, Shimron Hetmyer and Trent Boult. Rajasthan can easily keep an all-rounder like Jimmy Neesham to strengthen their XI. The team also has the option to strengthen its batting by bowling through Obed McCoy or adding Rasie van der Dussen. In this matter, Rajasthan coach Kumar Sangakkara should take a decision soon.

Lucknow is playing beyond expectations

At the start of the tournament, Lucknow Super Giants were not ranked among the strongest teams in the competition. Though now they are definitely playing like a strong unit. Lucknow have won their next three matches after a close defeat in their first match against Gujarat Titans. They first defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets and then registered a 12-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Lucknow's six-wicket win against Delhi Capitals in the previous match was also impressive. Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Aayush Badoni and Deepak Hooda have been brimming with runs for Lucknow Super Giants, while Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi have done a great job with the ball. The balance of the team has improved a lot with the inclusion of Jason Holder. He can change the course of the game by bowling and batting.
