Cricket Desk: Sanju Samson, Kerala, and Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain has been asked to stay back in UAE by the BCCI as per reports by IANS. Samson’s RR recently failed to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) and finished on the seventh spot on the points table.

However, he was very good with the bat as he scored 484 runs in 14 matches with one century and two half-centuries to his name at an average of 40.33 and strike rate of 136.72. This haul was his best ever in IPL history. And him being asked to stay back has set the rumor mill on fire as everyone is guessing the reason why.

Sanju Samson To Remain In UAE Until Further Notice As BCCI To Announce Final Squad On October 15

Though not as good as the India leg of the IPL 2021, Samson had a fairly decent outing in the United Arab Emirates as well when the IPL 14 was shifted to the desert country due to the COVID pandemic situation in India.

Though Samson’s team failed to make it to the playoffs, his form with the bat came to the notice of many. In his outings in the UAE leg of the current edition of the IPL, has scored 207 runs in seven matches, with 82 as his highest score, and followed up with 70 not out. He has the added advantage of being a wicket-keeper too, which he was for his team.

With Hardik Pandya and Rahul Chahar not performing well, hopes are high here that Samson might be drafted in as some of those selected are either struggling with niggles or poor form. India’s final squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, beginning on October 17, to be named on October 15.

As per reports, Samson is being asked to remain put in UAE till further notice, even while his team was knocked out of the IPL on October 7, and that has what led to speculations getting rife. Sanju Samson and his fans will be on tenterhooks till October 15, when the final T20 World Cup squad is unveiled.
