Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar had reached the Eid-Milan program in Kondhwa area of Pune on Thursday. In his address here, he said that the common people of Pakistan are not the enemies of India, but those who want power with the help of the army, they are in favor of creating tension between the two countries. Most of the people (in Pakistan) want peaceful relations with India. Without naming Imran Khan, the NCP chief praised him. Sharad Pawar said, 'One person took the reins of Pakistan and tried to give direction to that country, but was ousted from power'.

Sharad Pawar, referring to the unrest in Sri Lanka due to the Ukraine war and the economic crisis, said, "A different kind of situation prevails in the world at the moment. A powerful country like Russia is invading a small country like Ukraine, young people in Sri Lanka are on the street, fighting, and the leaders of that country have gone underground. In the neighboring country of Pakistan where you and my brothers live, a man took over the reins of the Prime Minister, tried to show the country one direction, but he was ousted from power and now a different picture is visible there. The Nationalist Congress chief was referring to Imran Khan, who was ousted as prime minister by the United Opposition on April 9 through a no-confidence motion moved in the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Remembered his tour of Pakistan with Team India

The NCP chief said that he had visited Pakistan several times in the past as a Union minister and president of the International Cricket Council. Sharad Pawar said, 'Lahore or Karachi, wherever we went, we were warmly welcomed. We went to Karachi with the Indian cricket team for a match. A day after the match the players expressed their desire to see the surrounding places…we went to a restaurant and after having breakfast when we tried to pay the bill the owner of the restaurant refused to take the money and said we were his guests Huh. The common people of Pakistan do not want enmity with India. Those who want to do politics and grab power with the help of (Pakistani) army are in favor of conflict between the two countries.

Sharad Pawar targeted without naming BJP

Sharad Pawar also indirectly targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said, 'Indians could have got rid of British rule if the leaders of the freedom struggle were not united. If someone is trying to create hatred among communities today, then everyone will have to come together and teach a lesson to such people. It was thought that she was trying to divert the attention of the people. Sharad Pawar said that the review of the sedition law is a welcome step and the British era law needs to be abolished.
