The wife of a CRPF jawan, who went missing five days ago from Panki Ratanpur Colony in Kanpur, was strangled to death by her lover due to illicit relations. The dead body was disposed of in a drain located near Bhaupur Maitha of Kanpur countryside. On Friday night, the police recovered his body on the behest of the lover. Inderpal, who lives in Ratanpur, is posted in the CRPF.

Due to the elections, his duty was in Mainpuri. At home, wife Geetadevi (34) was with their two children, Sushantk and Siddharth. On February 20, Inderpal called on his wife's mobile, but her phone was not picked up. On this, he informed the Panki police about the incident on the apprehension of something untoward. When the police reached his house, the woman was not found at home. Empty beer cans, glasses and some objectionable items were also found in the room. Inderpal, who returned home on February 21, lodged a missing complaint with the police station.

When the police checked the CDR of the woman's mobile, the last call was received from a person named Mukhtar, a car mechanic. When the police took him into custody and interrogated him, he accepted the truth. Mukhtar told the police during interrogation that he had a love affair with Geeta.

Meanwhile, Geeta started talking to someone else. Even after refusing, she did not agree, on the evening of the incident, after taking her with her in a car, strangulated her to death and threw the body in the drain. Police station in-charge Anjan Kumar recovered the body from the drain.

Mukhtar told the police that he is a resident of Geeta's maternal house (Rura Jamalpur). He had a relationship with Geeta from before his marriage. When her husband was out on duty, he would often visit Geeta at her house.

Geeta had a talk with a property dealer sometime back

The police searched Geeta's CDR and before talking to Mukhtar for the last time, she had a talk with Pushpendra Singh, a property dealer living in Gangaganj. Police took him into custody and interrogated him. Geeta's sons told the police that the property dealer and Mukhtar used to visit the house in the absence of their father. Mukhtar did not like Geeta talking to the property dealer.

The woman's elder son told the police that Mukhtar had taken mother Geeta with him in the car on the evening of the incident. According to the son, apart from Mukhtar, two other people were also present in the car. Police are trying to trace two other aides who helped Mukhtar in killing Geeta.
