Corona Patient Suicide: Many people lost their lives during the Corona period, many families became orphans. The Supreme Court of the country has come forward to provide government help to such families. SC issued instructions to the Center
The Supreme Court on Monday told the Central Government that in cases where someone has committed suicide due to corona, then it should be treated as a death due to Kovid-19. The court has asked the states to issue new guidelines in this regard.
What did the Supreme Court say?
According to a TOI report, the bench of Justice MR Shah said that we have seen your affidavit, but some things should be considered further. In the affidavit, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Center has made guidelines regarding easy certification of people who died of Kovid. These instructions have been sent to the states. In fact, in the affidavit submitted by the Center to the court, it has been said that if death occurs due to poisoning or other accident, even if Kovid-19 is one of the reasons, it will not be considered as death due to Kovid.
The court said that it is not acceptable to consider the death of the person who committed suicide due to corona not as a death due to Kovid. They should also get a death certificate from Kovid. The court asked the government how to issue a certificate in cases where it was denied earlier. The court said that the government should issue new guidelines for the states in this regard.
Government circular regarding death certificate
Let us tell you that last Friday, the government filed an affidavit in the court and said that if someone dies in the hospital or home within 30 days of being Kovid-19 positive, then the cause of death on the death certificate will be given as Kovid-19.
In fact, on June 30, the Supreme Court had directed the Central Government that those who died due to corona in hospital or elsewhere should be considered as deaths due to Kovid-19. Along with this, the government was also instructed to make a clear framework on this. Following the direction of the court, the Ministry of Health and the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) issued a new guideline on 3 September. In which it has been said that even if a patient is discharged from the hospital after the confirmation of corona, even if he dies outside within 30 days of the test, it will be considered as covid death.
