Mumbai: Sushant Singh Rajput's roommate Siddharth Pithani has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nearly a year after the actor's death in Mumbai, which is being investigated by multiple agencies.

Siddharth Pithani was among the four people present at Sushant Singh Rajput's home in Mumbai when he was found hanging in his room on June 14. He was reportedly arrested by the anti-drugs agency in Hyderabad this morning.

Mr Pithani was questioned multiple times by the Mumbai police and the CBI in connection with the death that captivated the nation, triggered many conspiracy theories and led to a big divide in the Mumbai film industry.

Many, including Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, have been charged in the drugs case that emerged as part of the investigations into Sushant Rajput's death.

The Narcotics Control Bureau stepped into the case after WhatsApp chats found on Rhea Chakraborty's phone revealed texts involving the buying of drugs for the actor.

The investigations then turned into a wider inquiry into the link between Bollywood and drugs. Many A-list actors and celebrities were also questioned.

An IT professional, Mr Pithani had told various news channels about the actor's last moments and he was grilled by various agencies over his version.

Mr Pithani, reportedly nicknamed "Buddha" by Sushant Rajput, had been living with him for about a year before his death. His allegations fed media frenzy and speculation in the days and weeks after the actor's shocking death.

He was questioned more than half a dozen times by the CBI in September last.
