India, who have so far performed brilliantly in all departments of the game, will look to seal a three-match series with a win in the second T20I against West Indies here on Friday. India has won the last three T20 series against West Indies. West Indies last defeated India in a T20I series in 2017. Team India has not been able to beat West Indies in five years. The West Indies team has lost four matches in a row, including three ODIs and one T20.

The West Indies team has not performed as expected on the tour so far and in the three ODIs and the first T20, India did not have to struggle much to register a win. The Kieron Pollard-led West Indies will be expected to challenge India in their favorite T20 format for the remainder of the match, especially considering that the team has come here after thrashing England 3-2 at home. On Wednesday, however, India registered a comfortable six-wicket win in the first T20I.

Virat expected to return to form

If India wins the current series, then after being appointed as the regular captain of Team India, the team led by Rohit Sharma will win the third series in a row. The only concern of the team is Kohli's form. He has so far scored 08, 18, 00 and 17 against West Indies and the team will expect big innings from him. In the first T20, Kohli had a great opportunity to play a big innings but he returned to the pavilion in 13 balls.

Captain Rohit Sharma also in excellent form

Rohit is aware of the importance of aggressive batting in the Powerplays and played a 19-ball 40 in the first T20I, scoring 22 runs in Odeon Smith's over. Rohit's opening partner Ishan Kishan was not in rhythm and had to struggle to score runs. Most of India's 58 runs in the power play came off Rohit's bat.

It was due to his innings that India were always in a good position in spite of losing three wickets in quick succession while chasing the target of 158 runs. Ishan, who was the costliest player of the IPL 2022 auction with Rs 15.25 crore, could not play freely and struggled to rotate the strike while Rohit looked in great rhythm.

Venkatesh Iyer's trial

India opted to go with six bowlers, giving pace to all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, leaving in-form batsman Shreyas Iyer out in the opening match. Rohit said that he has told Shreyas that he needs an all-rounder for the World Cup.

After the first match, the Indian captain said, 'We are very clear with Shreyas, we have told him that the team needs this option (all-rounder) while preparing for the World Cup. A player who can bowl.

Ravi Bishnoi's morale high

Debutant leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi troubled the West Indies batsmen a lot. Being the man of the match in his very first match will boost his morale. West Indies batsman Pooran admitted that there was a problem in understanding the variety of deliveries of the Indian spinners. For India, the injury of fast bowler Deepak Chahar will be a matter of concern.

He suffered a right hand injury while fielding due to which he was unable to meet his bowling quota. Ravi Bishnoi is the third Indian spinner to be named man of the match in his debut match. Pragyan Ojha and Akshar Patel did this before him.

Jason Holder can return

It is a 'do or die' match for Pollard's team looking for their first win on the tour. The team will be hoping for the return of pace bowling all-rounder Jason Holder, who missed the first T20I due to injury. In the opening match on Wednesday, the only ray of hope for the team was Nicholas Pooran, who hit a 38-ball fifty. Opener Kyle Myers, however, failed to convert a good start into a big innings.

Pooran and captain Pollard added 61 runs in the last five overs to take the team's score to 157 for seven in the first match but in the end it proved to be 15 to 20 runs short. With the return of Holder and the return of Pooran and Pollard to form, the West Indies team will look to break the order with a loss.
