Thamma BO Collection / 'Thamma' Faces Box Office Downfall: Ayushmann Khurrana's Film Plummets from 13 Cr to 9 Cr on Day 4

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's film 'Thamma' witnessed a sharp decline in its box office collection on Day 4. After a strong opening, the film has now collected a total of 65.15 crores against a massive budget of 145 crores, raising concerns about its profitability.

The highly anticipated film 'Thamma', starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, hit theaters on October 21st, generating considerable buzz and a promising start at the box office. However, the initial euphoria has been short-lived. Over the past few days, the film has experienced a significant downturn in its collections, alarming its producers. While Maddock Films' previous horror-comedies, such as 'Stree' and 'Bhediya', have been major blockbusters, 'Thamma' appears to be struggling to replicate that success, leading to concerns about its ability to even break even.

Steep Drop in Day-Wise Collections

'Thamma's journey at the box office has been marked by inconsistency. According to the latest Sacnilk report, the film managed to collect only 9. 55 crore rupees on its fourth day, a sharp decline from its Day 3 earnings of 13 crore rupees. The movie had a strong opening, raking in 24 crore rupees on Day 1, which then fell to 18. 6 crore rupees on Day 2. Consequently, the film's total collection now stands at 65. 15 crore rupees (India net). These figures clearly indicate a significant slowdown in 'Thamma's box office momentum, suggesting a potential downfall.

Budget Recovery Poses a Major Challenge

Produced with a substantial budget of 145 crore rupees, 'Thamma' needs to maintain a strong and consistent performance at the box office to cover its production costs and eventually turn a profit. Given the current rate of collection, it's becoming increasingly evident that recovering its budget will be an uphill battle for the film. If this trend persists, 'Thamma' could unfortunately become the first film from the Maddock horror-comedy universe to fail in recovering its investment, which would be a considerable setback for the acclaimed franchise.

Maddock Universe's Track Record Under Scrutiny

Maddock Films has established a formidable reputation in Bollywood with its successful horror-comedy offerings like 'Stree' and 'Bhediya'. These films not only performed exceptionally well at the box office but also garnered critical acclaim and widespread audience appreciation. 'Thamma' was introduced as an extension of this universe, aiming to introduce audiences to a new world of 'Betaal', while however, its sluggish performance, Notably slower than that of its predecessors, 'Stree' and 'Bhediya', casts a shadow of doubt over the Maddock horror-comedy universe's otherwise stellar track record. It remains to be seen how Maddock will address this performance in future projects.

Hopes for Weekend Resurgence

Despite the current challenges, all hope isn't lost for 'Thamma', while film analysts suggest that the upcoming weekend, particularly Saturday and Sunday, could provide a much-needed boost to the film's collections due to public holidays. With its fresh concept, 'Thamma' still holds the potential to attract a segment of the audience. The makers are reportedly hoping for the film to cross the 90 crore mark globally within six days. However, whether the film can accelerate its pace and inch closer to its budget or conclude its theatrical run with a disappointing performance remains to be seen.
