IPL 2020 / Thanks for missing one ball: Yuvraj as RR's Tewatia slams 5 sixes in an over

Cricket Desk: Rahul Tewatia’s stunning redemption against Kings XI Punjab to win his side the match has taught us a valuable lesson today And, that is, one should never judge anyone so soon.

Tewatia was under immense pressure. Here was a guy, who was struggling to time the ball even as the likes of Sanju Samson were smoking it at the other end. He had hobbled his way to 8 off 19 balls and it was increasingly looking like an innings that would have not only cost Rajasthan Royals the game but also create a massive dent in the all-rounder’s confidence.

But Tewatia held fort. As former cricketers and fans were lambasting the Royals management for sending him ahead of Robin Uthappa, Tom Curran, Jofra Archer, and Riyan Parag, and the game slipping away with every passing delivery, the left-hander proceeded to shut all of them down within a space of the six balls of the 18th over.

Tewatia went bang bang against Sheldon Cottrell, smashing him for consecutive sixes and at one stage, went from being the villain to being a genuine threat to Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes record. Unfortunately for Tewati and fortunately for Yuvi, the southpaw missed out on the fifth ball but he duly made amends for it by smashing yet another six to completely snatch the momentum away from KXIP. Rahul Tewatia scored 45 runs of his last 12 balls to script a stunning comeback, paving way for a historic win.

Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter where he cheekily thanked Rahul Tewatia for missing the fifth delivery besides congratulating RR for a historic run-chase. Yuvraj also heaped praise on KL Rahul, the centurion Mayank Agarwal and the ever-so-talented Sanju Samson for their brilliant knocks in what turned out to be yet another run-fest at Sharjah.
