Shashi Tharoor / Tharoor taught a lesson to the country that shed tears for Pakistan

India's series of exposing Pakistan on global platforms continues. The all-party delegation that reached Colombia under the leadership of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed dissatisfaction over Colombia's response to terrorism. Tharoor exposed Pakistan's policy of supporting terrorism.

Shashi Tharoor: India continues its aggressive diplomatic campaign against Pakistan at international forums. In this sequence, an all-party delegation led by Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor is currently in Colombia, where he expressed disappointment over the response of the Colombian government, calling Pakistan a patron of terrorism.

India's displeasure over the response of the Colombian government

Tharoor termed the Colombian government's condolences on the loss of life and property in Pakistan due to Indian retaliatory attacks as surprising and unbalanced. He clearly said that this condolence should have been for the victims of terrorism, not for the country acting as a safe haven for terrorists.

“When Colombia made this statement, they may not have fully understood the situation. India is a country that works for peace and progress in the world. We expect other governments to send a clear message to those who shelter terrorists,” — Shashi Tharoor

India and Colombia — Same Pain, Same Experience

Tharoor reminded Colombia of its own history of battling terrorism, saying India too has been facing terrorism continuously for the last four decades. He categorically stated that those who spread terrorism and those who counter it cannot be weighed on the same scale.

“We are just exercising the right to self-defence. If there is any confusion on this issue, we are here to clarify it.” — Tharoor

India’s stand on mediation: No third party

When Shashi Tharoor was questioned on the possibility of mediation, he clarified that India has no interest in war, but it was necessary to give a proper response to the terror attack. India held talks with senior officials of countries like the US, France, UAE, Saudi Arabia, but no formal mediation process took place.

“If these countries can make Pakistan understand that India is only responding, it could be helpful. But this was not any kind of mediation.” — Tharoor

Key leaders included in the delegation

The delegation led by Shashi Tharoor has reached Colombia after visiting Panama and Guyana. The delegation includes:

  • Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha)
  • GM Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party)
  • Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP)
  • Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP)
  • Milind Deora (Shiv Sena)
  • Tejaswi Surya (BJP)
Taranjit Singh Sandhu (Former Indian Ambassador to the US)

This team is one of the 7 delegations appointed by the Indian government to convey India's side to 33 countries after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Pahalgam attack and increasing tension

It is worth noting that 26 innocent people were killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In response to this, India carried out successful attacks on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan tried to attack with drones and missiles in response, but the Indian Army gave it a befitting reply.

Later on May 10, after talks between the DGMOs of both the countries, a ceasefire decision was taken, which reduced the tension somewhat.
