According to the coalition government, the consultation process for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS) will begin on August 20 and will continue until October 10. The Center and Medical Advisory Committee made this statement in an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court. The central government also proposed a proposed timetable for the process. He had previously notified the High Court that the consultation will be conducted online.

Last year, NEET-MDS exams were conducted on December 16th, and the results were reported on December 31st. However, the date of the student consultation has not yet been announced. Nine students challenged the Supreme Court, which questioned the “unfair and unlimited delay” caused by MCC. The allegations also stated that approximately 30,000 dental science graduates took the NEET-MDS exam, which enrolled more than 6,500 seats. "So far, there has been no update," the statement read.

The Supreme Court noted this delay. On August 9, the court composed of judges D Y Chandrachud and MR Shah requested the government to notify them of the consultation date before August 11.

The centre recently announced a 27% reserve for other backward class (OBC) and underperforming (EWS) candidates participating in the 2021-22 school year NEET.

Noted in its affidavit that the consultation process will take carried out in accordance with the existing reservation policy, adding that according to the Madras High Court ruling, the lack of clarity on the OBC reservation on the all-India quota resulted in the postponement of the date of the ad.
