Hearing on petitions challenging the ban on hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka continues in the High Court. During the hearing on Tuesday, the state government said that the ban on hijab in educational institutions is only for classes and study time. There are no restrictions on the hijab on the premises of institutions.

State Government Advocate General Prabhuling Navadgi told the High Court that we have a law for uniform in the educational institutions of the state. He said that Rule 11 of the Classification and Registration Rules imposes a reasonable restriction on a particular headband. There is no restriction on wearing hijab on campus. This rule is for class and study time only.
