The stock market witnessed a strong rally on the last day of the week. The Sensex closed at 82,408.17 with a jump of 1,046 points, while the Nifty rose 319 points to reach 25,112.40. Investors earned about Rs 4.7 lakh crore in a day. Bharti Airtel's shares gained the most.

Share Market Today: There was a tremendous jump in the Indian stock market on Friday. On the last trading day of the week, Sensex and Nifty gained momentum and made investors rich. The BSE Sensex closed with a strong gain of 1,046.30 points at 82,408.17, which is a gain of 1.29%. At the same time, Nifty also jumped 319 points to close at 25,112.40. In this one-day boom, the total wealth of investors increased by about ₹ 4.73 lakh crore.

Market opening and intraday performance

On Friday, the Sensex opened at 81,354.85, while the Nifty opened at 24,787.65. During the day's trading, the Sensex jumped 1,133 points to reach the upper level of 82,494.49, while the Nifty went up to 25,136.20. These figures were an indication that widespread buying is being seen in the market.

Major reasons behind the rise

Stability in global markets: Global sentiment has improved due to the expectation of a cut in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve in the near future.

Fall in dollar index: The weakness of the dollar against the rupee increased the interest of foreign investors.

FII buying: Foreign institutional investors bought on a large scale, which strengthened the market.

Rise in IT and banking stocks: Buying in Reliance, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel, especially those with heavy weightage, strengthened the market.

Which stocks shone?

Out of 30 Sensex companies, 27 stocks closed with gains. Bharti Airtel's stock jumped the most by 3.17%. After this, Nestle India (2.98%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.86%), Power Grid (2.18%) and Reliance Industries (2.08%) were also among the top gainers.

Nifty 50 also saw 44 stocks closing with gains, including stocks from auto, pharma, IT and financial sectors.

Some stocks disappointed

Although the overall market remained in the green, some stocks like Axis Bank, UltraTech Cement and Maruti Suzuki witnessed a slight decline.

Midcap and Smallcap situation

BSE Midcap gained 1.20% and Smallcap gained 0.55%, making it clear that not just largecap, but the entire market was in a broad uptrend.
