Starting from Mumbai, expanding to Delhi

According to sources, after the opening of Tesla's first showroom in Mumbai, a second showroom will also be started soon in New Delhi. The company has imported Tesla cars from China and superchargers, accessories and spare parts from the Netherlands. The first cars sent by the company in India include the Model Y rear-wheel drive SUV - which is considered to be Tesla's best-selling electric car globally. The company is expected to start with this model in India.

Musk-Modi meeting broke the barriers

There was speculation about Tesla's entry into India for the past several years. The major hurdles were high import duty and the requirement of local manufacturing. However, after the meeting between Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the US in February 2025, the talks got a new direction and the way started opening. At the same time, news came that Tesla was preparing thousands of cars for dispatch at a port near Mumbai.

What is special about Tesla Model Y?

Tesla Model Y is liked in many countries of the world. It is an all-wheel drive electric SUV with a long-lasting battery. This SUV can run up to 526 km on a single charge. This car, which accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, is equipped with a top speed of 200 km/h.
