A woman has been sentenced to life in England for murdering her sleeping husband by pouring boiling syrup of water and sugar. According to the report, the 59-year-old woman did this after allegations of sexually abusing her husband with children, for which the court convicted her of murder.

Corinna Smith, 59, attacked her 80-year-old husband Michael Baines on 14 July last year while he was sleeping at their home in Wirral, Cheshire. The woman threw three sacks of sugar and a hot solution of water on her husband, after which his body was badly burnt up to 36 percent.

Baines was extensively burned by the assault of his wife. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, he died in the hospital five weeks later on 18 August. Smith was sentenced to life imprisonment for 12 years after a trial at Chester Crown Court after being found guilty of murder

According to the information, Smith killed her husband because a day before that there was a rumor that Bains sexually abused children, which made her very angry and upset.


According to the Liverpool Echo, the court was told that Smith was told by her daughter about the father's actions. According to the report, the children told the mother that the father had sexually abused his own son and daughter for several years.

On the day of the incident, Smith added three sacks of sugar to the boiling water in the garden of the house, and while husband Bains was sleeping, he poured the hot syrup over her arms and all over her body.


However, she panicked when her husband got burnt and reached a nearby house. Smith kept banging on the neighbor's door until the occupant answered.

When the neighbor opened the door, he said, I have hurt him very badly, I think I have killed him.' The neighbor had called the police and ambulance after hearing him say this.
