World News: Russian President Vladimir Putin is in awe. He is a 'criminal' of war crimes in Ukraine. The International Criminal Court found him guilty on March 17 this year. It was alleged that children were abducted from Ukraine and deported to Russia. If he crosses the border of Russia, then 123 countries have orders to arrest him immediately. Now the biggest question is that how is it possible to arrest a President?

President Vladimir Putin has not yet left the country after the attack on Ukraine. He also did not attend many important conferences. BRICS summit is scheduled in South Africa from 22-24 August next month. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are its members. Putin has refused to go to this conference. Since South Africa is a signatory to the ICC, it is bound to arrest Putin. Recently, in the Russia-Africa Summit, African leaders have demanded to dismiss the arrest warrant issued against Putin.

Kidnapping case of 16000 children

Russian President Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine in February last year. The Russian army created havoc as soon as it entered the border of Ukraine. Putin started the war with a ground attack. Captured many large parts in no time. Meanwhile, Putin's army allegedly abducted 16,000 children from the occupied territories. He was deported to Russia. It is said that 300 of these children have returned home, but what happened to the rest is not known.

Putin convicted in less than a month

The case of kidnapping of children reached the International Criminal Court on 22 February 2023. Prosecutor AA Khan filed a petition in the ICC. The hearing of the case started. 42 teams were sent to Ukraine for investigation. The ICC has identified 65,000 war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine. Evidence was presented in the court. The court accepted that Putin is actually a 'criminal' of a war crime. The court completed the trial in less than a month and found Putin guilty.

Now a question may come in your mind that after all Putin would not have gone to the ground to kidnap the children? The ICC believes that Vladimir Putin and the Children's Rights Commissioner in his office, Maria Alekseevna Lvova-Belova, are directly responsible for the abduction of the children. Now if these two people go outside Russia to countries where ICC orders are in force, they will be arrested.

Punishment for those guilty of war crimes

The International Criminal Court is located in The Hague, Netherlands. Russia was also a signatory in this intergovernmental organization with 123 countries. Vladimir Putin separated from this organization in 2016. Putin was also accused of war crimes in the 2014 Ukraine attack. Ukraine later allowed the ICC to investigate. However, Ukraine is also not a signatory to the ICC.

The ICC investigates cases of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of aggression. There is a provision of 30 years or life imprisonment for those convicted of war crimes. ICC's 123 member countries include 33 African countries, 19 Asia-Pacific, 18 Eastern European, 28 Latin American and Caribbean and 25 Western European and other countries.

President Vladimir Putin no threat in India

Only the signatory countries of the International Criminal Court's Rome law can arrest Putin. Dozens of countries including India, China, Russia and the US are not members of the ICC. India will host the G20 summit this year. Putin is also expected to reach this conference. However, no official announcement has been made yet. Since India is not a member of the ICC, Putin can visit India without any fear. The pressure of Putin's arrest can definitely come on India.

India has previously hosted people convicted by the ICC. For example, in 2015, Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir visited India for the India-Africa Summit. The ICC had asked India to arrest the African leader and hand him over to international authorities. In 2009 and 2010, the ICC convicted him of genocide and war crimes in the West Darfur region of Sudan. In this case, arrest warrants were issued against him. He has been in Sudan's custody for 14 years. Now it has to be seen what further steps ICC takes regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
