IND vs ENG: The recently concluded Test series between India and England was exciting, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Indian players performed brilliantly in this series, in which stars like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj left their mark. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Anshul Kamboj made their Test debut in this series, but there were three players who remained on the bench throughout the series and were not given a single chance by captain Shubman Gill. These players were Kuldeep Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Arshdeep Singh. Let's take a look at the story of these three players and the reasons for their being on the bench.1. Kuldeep Yadav: Spinner overlookedKuldeep Yadav, a talented chinaman bowler, remained on the bench throughout this series. The Indian team relied on Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar in the spin department. Both of them are known not only for their bowling but also do useful batting in the lower order. In this series, both of them performed well with both bat and ball. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav is a pure bowler, whose batting side is relatively weak. This is the reason why the team management gave preference to Jadeja and Sundar instead of including him in the playing XI. Kuldeep has taken 56 wickets in 13 Test matches so far, but his talent could not be used in this series.2. Abhimanyu Easwaran: Star of domestic cricket, yet ignoredAbhimanyu Easwaran made his Test debut in this series, but he did not get a place in the playing XI in a single match. Earlier, he was also a part of the Indian Test squad on the Australia tour in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but he did not get a chance there either. His record in domestic cricket is excellent. He has scored 7841 runs in 103 first class matches, including 27 centuries. Apart from this, he has 3857 runs in 89 List-A matches. Despite such a great performance, the captain and team management gave preference to players like Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair, due to which Easwaran had to face disappointment throughout the tour.3. Arshdeep Singh: Injury snatched away the chance to debutYoung fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was included in the Indian Test squad for the first time. His speed and swing bowling ability brought him to this opportunity, but misfortune did not favor him. He had a chance to be included in the playing XI in the fourth Test, but he was ruled out of that match due to a hand injury. After this, he did not get a chance in the fifth Test as well. As a result, he could not be a part of the playing XI of a single match in the entire series. Looking at Arshdeep's talent, it was expected that he would make his mark in Test cricket, but injury and team selection left his dream of debut unfulfilled in this series.
