TikTok facing ban on UK govt devices: In view of Britain's security concerns, the British government (UK Govt) has banned the use of Chinese video app 'TikTok' on government phones (TikTok ban on UK govt devices). Britain's Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden has announced this ban in the Parliament of his country. Let us tell you that America (US), Canada (Canada), European Union (EU) and India (India) have already completely banned Tiktok in their countries.

The Chinese company denied the allegations

However, the Chinese company owned by this TikTok app has denied the allegations of sharing users' data with the Chinese government. On Thursday, China has also accused America of spreading misinformation and suppressing Tik Tok. The company had said in its statement that the Biden administration was asking its Chinese owners to sell their stake in the popular video sharing app. Meanwhile, Dowden told MPs that there is a possibility of such a risk in how government data and information is used by Tiktok.

Decision in view of the security of government information

He said, “Security of sensitive government information is a priority, so today we are banning this app (TikTok) on government equipment.” The minister also said that this step has been taken on the advice of cyber security experts. This restriction does not apply to personal phones and devices.

Earlier, the US government had ordered last month that employees of federal agencies would have to remove TikTok from all government-issued mobile devices. The US Parliament, the White House, the US Armed Forces and more than half of the US states had already banned the app. The European Union, Belgium and several other countries have also temporarily banned the app from the phones of their government employees.
