Mohammed Shami Umran Malik Team India: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the ODI series against Bangladesh starting on Sunday due to injury. It is learned that Shami suffered a shoulder injury during a training session after returning from Australia, where the Indian team had made a semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup.

The BCCI issued a statement saying, "Fast bowler Mohammed Shami suffered a shoulder injury during a training session ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the observation of the BCCI medical team at the NCA, Bengaluru and is expected to complete the three matches." Will not be able to participate in the series."

The seriousness of Shami's injury is yet to be known. The 33-year-old fast bowler from Bengal is an integral part of the Indian ODI team going into next year's World Cup. The senior selection committee has included Umran Malik in the Indian team as Shami's replacement. Fast bowler Umran recently made his ODI debut on the tour of New Zealand. He has three wickets in three ODIs.

Due to this shoulder injury, Shami can also be ruled out of the two-match Test series starting in Chittagong from 14 December. Skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid will be worried if Shami misses the Test series as India need to win every match to stay in the race for the World Test Championship final to be held at The Oval in June. Shami has taken 216 wickets in 60 matches in Test cricket.
