UP To Nepal Border Train Service Starts August 31 With 4 Trains

The long-awaited rail connectivity between Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh and the Nepal border is finally becoming a reality. Starting August 31, train services on the Bahraich-Nepalganj Road rail section will officially commence, marking a significant milestone for the region's infrastructure. Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to virtually inaugurate the extended rail connectivity, while local Member of Parliament Dr. Anand Gond will be present at the site to flag off the inaugural train from Bahraich. This development is expected to provide a major boost to the local economy and ease travel for residents on both sides of the border. The wait for trains to Nepal is finally coming to an end for the people of this region.

Expansion of Rail Connectivity and Infrastructure

The commencement of these services follows the successful completion of gauge conversion and electrification work on the Bahraich-Nepalganj Road rail section. MP Anand Gond highlighted that the transition to broad gauge has paved the way for more efficient and faster rail travel. The newly constructed and upgraded railway stations that will see operations include Nepalganj Road, Babaganj, Nanpara, Matera, Risia, and Bahraich. Initially, four major trains have been proposed and approved for this route, consisting of two express trains and two passenger or MEMU trains. This initiative by the central government is seen as a major step in strengthening the rail network in the border areas of Uttar Pradesh.

Detailed Train Schedule and Routes

The railway department has released a detailed schedule for the new services to ensure smooth travel for passengers. The 14214 Down Nepalganj Road-Varanasi Intercity Express will depart from Nepalganj Road at 4:00 AM and is scheduled to reach Varanasi at 1:35 PM. For the return journey, the 14213 Up Varanasi-Nepalganj Road Express will leave Varanasi at 2:00 PM and arrive at Nepalganj Road by 11:00 PM. On top of that, the 15131 and 15132 Nepalganj Road-Varanasi City Express will also be operational on this route, providing more options for those traveling towards Varanasi. These trains will connect the border region directly to one of the most important cultural and religious hubs of India.

Local Impact and Passenger Services

In addition to the express services, two MEMU or Passenger trains will operate between Gonda and Nepalganj Road to cater to local commuters. These trains, numbered 75109/75110 and 75111/75112, are scheduled to run at 5:00 AM and 12:30 PM respectively. MP Anand Gond expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this gift to the people of Bahraich, while he emphasized that the direct connectivity to Varanasi and Gonda would accelerate the development of the district and provide immense benefits to the people living near the Nepal border. The new rail link is expected to facilitate better trade and personal travel between the two neighboring regions, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local population.
