Asian Games 2023: Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat is out of the Asian Games. On August 13, Vinesh suffered a knee injury, due to which he withdrew his name. In his place, the junior world champion will now take part in the 53 kg category of the last Panghal Asian Games. Vinesh gave this information by writing a post on his Twitter. Vinesh got a direct entry in the Asian Games. He did not have to go through trials for this. Vinesh told in the post that he would undergo surgery on August 17.

Vinesh won the gold medal in the last Asian Games played in Jakarta, but this time she will not be able to defend her title. She plays in the 53 kg weight category. In the Asian Games to be held in China, the wrestling matches will start from 23 September.

Broken dream

Vinesh has posted a letter on Twitter that doctors have told him that surgery is the only option. Vinesh wrote that she is disappointed that she will not be able to defend her title. Vinesh has told all the concerned people in this matter so that the reserve player can get a chance. Vinesh has appealed to his fans to keep supporting him in the same way as he was doing so that he can prepare for the Paris Olympics-2024.

Will not be able to participate in the World Championship

If Vinesh undergoes surgery on August 17, it means that she will not be able to play in the World Championship as the trials for this tournament are to be held on August 25-26. This is also a big blow for Vinesh and India. Vinesh and Bajrang Punia were exempted from the Asian Games trials and due to this there was a controversy. Many players also opposed it. At present, the Adhoc Committee, which is looking after the functioning of the Wrestling Federation of India, has decided not to give exemption to any of the World Championship trials.

Front opened against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Vinesh was one of the wrestlers who opened a front against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President of Wrestling Federation of India and accused him of sexual exploitation of women players. Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik were also with him in this.
