New Delhi : After the ruckus between the two parties in JNU on Sunday night, the Vasant Kunj North police station has registered a case on the complaints of both the parties. The police had received several complaints from both the sides. In the preliminary investigation, the police have asked the JNU administration to help identify them by taking photographs of the students seen in the video viral on social media.

Acting on all the complaints received in the case, the police have registered an FIR under sections 323, 341, 509, 506, 34 of the IPC. The District Deputy Commissioner of Police has constituted a team under the leadership of ACP to investigate the matter. The team has started its investigation from Monday morning itself. At the same time, on Sunday night, accusing the police of negligence, Left student organizations demonstrated in front of the police station. After getting assurance from the top officials and the FIR was registered, the students left. On the other hand, students associated with ABVP also took out a goodwill march in the night.

After identification, students will be questioned

The students appearing in the viral video on social media and the students written in the complaints will be identified and questioned. So far, 20 photos have been removed from the viral video in social media, whose help has been sought from the JNU administration to identify them. After this, they will be questioned by giving notice.

Who pasted the posters in the hostel?

According to the police, a student organization told that religious work was forbidden by pasting posters in Kaveri Hostel. After this the controversy started. The police have confiscated the posters. It was learned that the JNU administration had not put up the posters. Investigation is on as to who put up the posters.

Non-vegetarian food not a problem in hostels: ABVP

ABVP held a press conference outside JNU main gate after the incident that took place in JNU on Sunday night. The organization accused the Left students of disturbing and beating up the Ram Navami Puja and said that they are bringing the talk of non-vegetarian food in it to divert the issue. While non-vegetarian food is not a problem.

ABVP's JNU unit president Rohit Kumar said that seven days back it was decided in the General Body Meeting (GBM) of the Cauvery Hostel Mess Committee that non-vegetarian food would not be prepared in the mess on Ram Navami. On April 10, at 3:30 pm, the Left organizations came to disrupt the puja. Left organization students attacked at 8:30 pm. On Sundays, non-vegetarian food was served in hostels like Koyna, Periyar etc. Despite this, they are associating it with non-vegetarian food. At the same time, Mess Secretary of Kaveri Hostel Ragib said that the mess warden had asked not to serve non-vegetarian food but he did not give written instructions.

Violence on university campus is not tolerated: JNU administration

JNU administration has issued a statement after the incident at Kaveri Hostel. The JNU administration said that violence of any kind will not be tolerated on the campus. At the same time, late on Sunday night, Vice Chancellor Prof. Shanti Shree Pandit along with his team visited Kaveri Hostel. The JNU administration said that a havan was organized in the hostel on Ram Navami. Some students opposed it. The students were pacified by the warden and dean and the havan ended peacefully. Despite this, some group of students was not happy with this and there was a ruckus during the dinner time. During this there was an argument between the two groups.
