Jharkhand / Wasseypur Gang connection surfaced in Ranchi violence crowd gathered for June 10 protest

In the case of violence in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, it has come to the fore in the police investigation that a WhatsApp group 'Wasseypur Gang' was used to mobilize the crowd. Police is now looking for the administrator of this WhatsApp group.

After the Ranchi violence, there has been a tense atmosphere on Monday as well. Heavy police force is deployed in Karbala Chowk and other areas to arrest the accused involved in the violent incidents of June 10. Meanwhile, the police have come to know that a WhatsApp group named 'Wassepur Gang' was used to mobilize people for the June 10 protest.

To maintain peace, the government has deployed Rapid Action Force, Anti-Terrorist Squad, Special Task Force and Police at all sensitive places across the state.

Tension prevailed in Jharkhand after two people died during violent protests that erupted in Ranchi after Friday prayers on June 10, Times Now reported. Protests were held in Ranchi against controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Kumar Jindal.

So far one person has been arrested and 16 others have been taken into custody, police said. The process of identification is going on. It further added that necessary action has been taken against the identified accused.

The government imposed curfew in Ranchi after protests erupted and several vehicles were torched and vandalized. To control the situation, the administration had temporarily suspended all internet services in Ranchi till 6 am on June 11, along with imposing curfew.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incidents of violence. Senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal and Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Sanjay Latkar will investigate these incidents. Ranchi DIG Anish Gupta said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been constituted to probe the incident. He said so far three FIRs have been registered. The search operation is on to arrest those involved in the violence.
