Indian Cricket Team: Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the moment when two legends of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will once again take the field. Both these players, who have retired from Test and T20 cricket, will now be seen only in One Day International (ODI) matches. Important meeting of BCCI and SLC

Two days later, officials of BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are going to meet at the annual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) to be held in Singapore. The proposed ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is likely to be discussed in this meeting. Sri Lanka has proposed to play a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches with India, but no final decision has been taken on it yet.

A senior Sri Lanka Cricket official told Telecom Asia Sport, "We have received a positive response from the BCCI. We hope that a decision can be taken on this in the next two-three days." On the other hand, a BCCI official has indicated that the series with Sri Lanka is unlikely, but a final decision will be taken soon.

Indian team's busy schedule

At present, the Indian cricket team is busy with the five-Test series against England, which will end on August 2, 2025. After this, India was to tour Bangladesh, but this tour has been postponed till next year. In such a situation, the proposed series with Sri Lanka may be the only way for Rohit and Virat to return.

Rohit and Virat's last ODI innings

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played their last ODI match on 9 March 2025. It was the final of the Champions Trophy, in which India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to win this prestigious title after 12 years. Since then the Indian team has not played any ODI match.

After winning the T20 World Cup last year, both the legends retired from T20 International cricket. After this, during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rohit and Virat also said goodbye to Test cricket. Now both of them will be seen playing only in the ODI format.

This year the Indian team has to play three ODIs each against Australia and South Africa. Apart from this, there is still uncertainty over the proposed series with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's hopes have increased after the postponement of the Bangladesh tour, but if this series also does not happen, then the fans may have to wait longer for Rohit and Virat to return to the field.
