World Cup 2023: The Indian team has recently suffered a 2-1 defeat in the three-match ODI series against Australia. In the last match of this series, Australia won the trophy by defeating Team India by 21 runs. But in this series, the Australian team attacked Team India with a different strategy. Actually, David Warner, who has been responsible for opening for Australia for years, came to bat in the middle order in the last match of this series.

Confidence being shown on Mitchell Marsh

In the year 2021, when Mitchell Marsh was promoted to number three in the batting order in the T20 team. So some said it would prove to be a master stroke and Australia won the T20 World Cup in UAE. In 2023, when David Warner was not available due to injury, Marsh was made the opener in ODIs against India. He scored 81 and 66 not out in Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.

Warner landed at number four

When Warner returned for the series decider in Chennai, Marsh retained his opener's spot and scored a quickfire 47 while the experienced Warner moved up to number four. Marsh received the Player of the Series award for scoring 194 runs at an average of 97 in Australia's 2–1 series win. Marsh still believes that Warner could return as an opener at some point in the run-up to the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November.

Marsh gave a big statement

Marsh said that Davey was out for the first two matches. I got the opportunity and enjoyed it. Warner has been an incredible player for Australia for a long time and has been one of the best ODI openers. I am sure he will return to the opening at some point. But it is important that we remain flexible with the bat. It felt good to perform for the team.

Marsh said that I am a naturally aggressive batsman. I have enjoyed my game in this series. I am very happy that I could perform like this. I was returning to international cricket after a long gap. I was fresh and with a new energy on the field.
