Hearing on consumer council's petition

The consumer council has filed a petition in the commission saying that Rs 20596 crore is being spent on the power companies of electricity consumers. In lieu of this, the electricity rates for the consumers should be cut by 6.8 percent for the next five years.

Awadhesh Verma, President of the Consumer Council, sought the cooperation of the government from the Minister of Power regarding the reduction in electricity rates. He said that the government should instruct the power companies and power corporations to cooperate with the proposal. So that electricity prices can be cut.

How to curb expensive purchase of electricity

Awadhesh Verma also raised the issue of the strength of the economic condition of Power Corporation in front of Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma. He said that the costly purchase of electricity should be curbed for strength, due to which 2 thousand crore rupees can be saved every year. Along with this, he also appealed to rein in the wasteful expenditure of power companies. He said that Rs 500 crore can be saved every year by this.
