Weather Update: Monsoon entered Delhi and Maharashtra on Sunday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, after 62 years, monsoon has reached both the places simultaneously. Earlier on June 21, 1961, monsoon had entered both the places on the same day. Monsoon will completely cover Delhi and Mumbai in the next two days. JJ flyover flooded in Mumbai after it rained since yesterday. Today Yellow alert has been issued for some parts of the city and Orange alert for some.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in 23 states of the country for the next four days. These include Jharkhand, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala are included.

Monsoon entered 6 states on Saturday

Monsoon may have entered the country after a delay of 7 days, but on Saturday it reached six states – Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh in a single day. Monsoon has arrived on time in many states. Monsoon covered entire Uttarakhand and Himachal in a single day.

Monsoon, which was stuck for 12 days near Ratnagiri in Maharashtra on the Western Ghats, further reached Nagpur. In the next 24 to 48 hours, the monsoon will move further up to Mumbai in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Monsoon will also spread in many parts of Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Gujarat.

Haryana

The Ghaggar river is in spate in Panchkula due to pre-monsoon rains in Haryana. A car got stuck in the strong current of the river, in which the woman driver was barely pulled out with the help of the local people. All trains running on the Kalka-Shimla rail track have been cancelled.

The track has been blocked due to landslides and fallen trees. Two morning trains from Kalka have returned midway. The work of clearing debris from the track is going on in full swing.
