Yamuna Authority: Japan Kewpie Corp to Invest ₹200 Crore in Food Plant

Japan's Kewpie Corporation has proposed establishing a mega food processing plant in the Yamuna Authority area with an investment of ₹200 crore. Located near Jewar Airport, the project requires 8-10 acres of land and aims to bolster regional industrial growth and employment.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region is witnessing a significant surge in foreign direct investment as Japan's leading food product manufacturer, Kewpie Corporation, has expressed interest in setting up a mega food processing plant near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, while according to authority officials, a high-level delegation from the company recently visited the YEIDA office to discuss the investment proposal. This development aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government's strategic push to transform the area surrounding the Jewar Airport into a global industrial and manufacturing hub.

Investment Details and Land Requirements

According to information shared by YEIDA officials, Kewpie Corporation plans to invest approximately ₹200 crore for the construction of the mega food processing facility. The company has indicated a requirement for nearly 8 to 10 acres of land to execute the project. Officials stated that the company management is expected to submit a formal proposal to the authority shortly. Once received, the proposal will be forwarded to the YEIDA Board and the state government's Industries Department for final approval. The land allotment will follow the standard procedures established under the state's industrial policy.

Delegation Visit and Official Discussions

The Japanese delegation held extensive discussions with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other senior officials of the Yamuna Authority. During the meeting, the representatives were briefed on the available infrastructure, including power supply, water management, and transport connectivity in the region. According to officials, the Japanese delegation expressed satisfaction with the existing facilities and the strategic proximity to the Jewar Airport. The authority has assured the company of full administrative support and expedited clearances to ensure the project commences within the stipulated timeframe.

Strategic Importance of Jewar Airport Proximity

The construction of the Noida International Airport has positioned the Yamuna Authority region as a premier destination for global investors. Officials noted that the airport's connectivity and logistics advantages are primary factors attracting foreign firms. The investment-friendly policies of the Uttar Pradesh government have further encouraged Japanese and other international corporations to explore opportunities here. The entry of Kewpie Corporation is expected to not only strengthen the food processing sector but also pave the way for other Japanese firms to establish a presence in the region.

Existing Food Processing Infrastructure in YEIDA

Officials clarified that this will be the third major food processing plant in the Yamuna Authority area. Previously, land has already been allotted to prominent entities such as Patanjali Ayurved and Innova Food Park. The establishment of these units is creating a strong food processing ecosystem in the region. The addition of Kewpie Corporation will provide global recognition to this cluster, enabling the production of food products that meet international standards. The area is rapidly evolving into a central hub for agro-based industries and value-added manufacturing.

Projected Economic and Employment Impact

The establishment of this mega food processing plant is expected to have a substantial impact on the local economy. According to officials, the ₹200 crore investment will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local workforce. On top of that, local farmers are expected to benefit from a larger market and better pricing for their produce, as food processing units rely heavily on the agricultural sector for raw materials. This project is viewed as a significant step toward contributing to Uttar Pradesh's goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
