Advocates Raghav Awasthi and Mukesh Sharma appeared for Nakhua. Rathi had uploaded a video titled My Reply to Godi YouTubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee on his YouTube channel on July 7, 2024. Nakhua, who is BJP's Mumbai unit spokesperson, had alleged that Rathi called him part of a 'violent and abusive troll' but the allegations are without any 'logic or reason' and tend to harm his reputation.

According to the Bar and Bench report, Delhi's Saket Court issued summons to Rathi on July 19. The case was heard by District Judge Gunjan Gupta. BJP leader Suresh Nakhua has called Dhruv Rathee a liar and alleged that Rathi called him a 'violent and abusive troll'. This was done to tarnish his reputation.

The video was released on July 7

Actually, this matter started on July 7 when Dhruv Rathee uploaded a video titled "My Reply to Godi YouTubers (Elvish Yadav)" on his YouTube channel. On this released video, Mumbai unit spokesperson Nakhua alleged that Dhruv Rathee has called him a part of "violent and abusive trolls", these allegations are without any "logic or reason", this has hurt his reputation, after which he filed a defamation case against Rathi.

What is the matter

Nakhua said in the petition filed that the defendant number 1 i.e. Dhruv Rathee, who made baseless claims against the plaintiff in a highly provocative and inflammatory video, which spread like wildfire on the digital platform, had a malicious intent behind this video. He said that due to the allegations made by Rathi in the released video, Nakhua has faced widespread condemnation and mockery. It was alleged on behalf of the petitioner that through the video prepared in a cunning and malicious manner, an attempt was made to deliberately tarnish his integrity and reputation.

Also demanded damages of Rs 20 lakh from Dhruv Rathee

According to the report of Live Law, Nakhua has sued Dhruv Rathee for defamation done to him on cyberspace. He has also demanded damages of Rs 20 lakh from Dhruv Rathee. According to media reports, the hearing on this matter is to be held on August 6. According to the report of Bar and Bench, Saket Court of Delhi has issued summons to Dhruv Rathee on July 19.
