The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Bharatpur has executed a significant operation targeting corruption within the Women and Child Development Department. On Friday, the bureau successfully apprehended three female employees who were caught in the act of accepting a bribe. The operation took place in the Surajpole sector of Bharatpur city, following a detailed investigation into a complaint regarding extortion and professional intimidation, while the arrests have sent shockwaves through the local administration, highlighting the ongoing efforts to cleanse government departments of unethical practices.
Identification of the Accused Personnel
The three individuals taken into custody have been identified as Kshama Dahiya, Sunita Mudgal, and Rajbala. Kshama Dahiya held the position of a female supervisor within the Surajpole sector. Sunita Mudgal was serving as an Anganwadi worker at the Kare ka Nagla center, while Rajbala was an Anganwadi worker based at the D Block center in Ranjit Nagar. These three women allegedly worked in tandem to demand illegal gratification from a subordinate or colleague, using their positions of authority to exert pressure.
The Nature of the Bribery Demand
According to the details provided by the ACB, the case originated from a complaint filed by an individual who was being threatened by the trio. The accused had allegedly demanded a total sum of 50000 rupees from the complainant. The justification for this demand was twofold: first, to ensure that the complainant wouldn't be subjected to harassment during their daily duties, and second, to guarantee that the complainant wouldn't be dismissed or terminated from their job. The threat of job loss was used as a primary motivator to force the complainant into paying the bribe.
Execution of the ACB Trap
Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amit Kumar oversaw the operation. After the initial complaint was received, the ACB team conducted a verification process to confirm the validity of the bribery demand. Once the demand was verified, a trap was meticulously planned for Friday. The complainant was instructed to proceed with the payment of the first installment of the bribe, which was set at 10000 rupees. As the transaction occurred at the designated location in the Surajpole sector, the ACB team moved swiftly to intercept the accused. The three women were caught red-handed with the bribe money in their possession.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Consequences
Following the arrest, the ACB has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter. A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The bureau is currently interrogating Kshama Dahiya, Sunita Mudgal, and Rajbala to determine the extent of their activities and whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of corruption within the sector. The ACB is also looking into the possibility of other accomplices who might have facilitated these illegal demands. All evidence, including the recovered currency and witness statements, is being compiled to ensure a strong legal case against the accused.
