The Egyptian military said in a statement that at least 11 soldiers were killed and five were wounded in a terrorist attack in the troubled northern region of the Sinai Peninsula.
Egyptian military spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafiz said in a statement that the clashes broke out after militants attacked a water pumping station east of the Suez Canal on Saturday. Egyptian troops thwarted an attack by a group of terrorists on a water pumping station.
According to the spokesman, 10 soldiers and one officer were among the 11 killed in the clashes, while the armed forces are currently chasing the militants surrounded in a deserted area.
