The bike collided with the truck and Sameer fainted there.Noida police reached the accident site and took Sameer to Kailash Hospital, but due to his serious condition, Sameer was then referred to Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.'The bones of the mouth were shattered'According to Dr. Bhim Singh Nanda, the plastic surgeon who first attended Sameer at Gangaram Hospital, 'the patient's condition was very bad. He had severe injuries to his head and jaws (maxio-facial). The jaw was dislocated and there were fractures in about 16 major bones in the face and head. The bones of the mouth were shattered. The tongue was cut into two pieces.At midnight itself, the team of 10 doctors decided to do the surgery. The first patient was kept alive on artificial breathing - after that the neurosurgeon took over.According to neurosurgeon Dr. Shrey Jain, “When the patient was slightly stabilized, multiple scans were immediately performed to ascertain the extent of the injuries.” The patient had severe facial injuries and multiple fractures to the extent that facial bones were crushed And broke into small pieces.Fractured without cutting the faceThe patient was taken for surgery and all the fractures were fixed without any cut on the facial skin. Then all the fractures and joints were fitted in their place. After this all the fractures were fitted one by one with the help of titanium plates and screws. About six plates and two dozen screws were used in this process. Then the injuries to the tongue and other soft tissues including the lower and upper lip, nose and eyelids were repaired.The surgery took 8 hours. From January 2 till now the patient has been able to take soft diet. However, in the condition of going home now, it will take one more week.
