The BMW Group launched the 2019 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) in India today at a starting price of Rs 43.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on Mini 3-door hatch, the John Cooper Works facelift will be available at all MINI dealerships from June onwards as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU). It will be available in the country in 11 colour options -- Chilli Red, Electric Blue, Emerald Grey, Melting Silver, Midnight Black, Pepper White, Solaris Orange, Starlight Blue, Thunder Grey, White Silver and the exclusive John Cooper Works Rebel Green.


The 2019 Mini John Cooper Works facelift gets a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, TwinPower Turbo engine that makes 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Sports Steptronic automatic transmission. It can make 0 to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds.

The front fascia of Mini John Cooper Works facelift gets a hexagonal radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern. It is flanked by LED headlamps, which are surrounded by LED DRLs that incorporate indicators as well. The hatchback comes with a front apron with air ducts; side sills and 17-inch JCW track spoke light alloy wheels in black. It also gets chrome plated double exhaust pipes.

The interiors of the new Mini JCW feature premium seats with headrests in Carbon Black Dinamica Leather and red accents. It sports leather steering wheel, which comes with paddle shifters. The door sills have an integrated John Cooper Works badge. There is the MINI head-up display providing a plethora of information. The circular central instrument panel has a 6.5-inch display. The hatchback gets a standard Harman Kardon Hi-Fi audio system with 12 speakers and an 8-channel digital amplifier.

When it comes to safety features, the 2019 Mini JCW hatch gets front and passenger airbags, brake assist, 3-point seat belts, dynamic stability control, crash sensor, ABS, cornering brake control and run-flat tyres, as standard. Also standard are park distant control and a rearview camera. There are three driving modes -- MID, Sport and Green.
