Crime / 64 year old Grandfather man gets 73 year jail in Pocso case in Kerala

A fast-track court of Idukki (Kerala) sentenced to a 64-year-old prison for a 73-year-old jail and 1,60,000 rupees for sexual abuse of his seven years ago.

He will have to be punished at least twenty years because the punishment period will run along. Fast Track Court Judge PG Gazeis said that the guilty is not eligible for any sympathetic and preventive punishment to investigate such crimes.

According to the prosecution, this event took place in 2019. The incident came when the grandmother (the wife of the accused) saw a crime and reported it to the police. Later, the medical report confirmed sexual attack and he was arrested under the protection of children (Poxo) Act from sexual offenses.

During the trial, the child's father and some other relatives were tried to the statements to save the accused, but the court trusted the earlier statements and medical reports to catch him. In addition to the penalty, the court also instructed the legal service authority to compensate the child properly.

In the case of Public Prosecutor Saneesh SS said, "He was sentenced to three years under the three streams of Poxo for 20-20 years and for more than 10 years and Section 377 (unnatural sex)." He said that this is the first time when the guilty has been given so heavy punishment in the state.
