Operation Baam / 70 attacks in 4 days... Know what is Operation BAM, which is shaking Balochistan?

In the last 4 days, BLF has carried out more than 70 attacks in Balochistan and other areas of Pakistan under Operation Bam. The group targeted security forces and economic targets. Baloch fighters have intensified attacks demanding independence. The Pakistani government has warned of strict action.

Operation Baam: There have been about 70 terrorist attacks in Balochistan and other provinces of Pakistan in the last four days. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for these attacks, which has described them as part of its military operation 'Operation Baam'. The BLF announced the start of this operation on July 8, 2025, and since then the attacks have been going on continuously. These attacks have caused serious damage to Pakistan's security system and economic interests.

Nine passengers killed in Punjab

On Friday, unidentified gunmen kidnapped and killed nine passengers from buses in Punjab. No group claimed responsibility for the incident, but the Pakistan government claimed that 'Fitna al Hindustan' was behind it. However, experts and local sources believe that the BLF may also have a hand in this attack. BLF spokesperson Major Gwaharam Baloch said in a statement that 80% of the targets of Operation Baam have been achieved in just four days.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz has vowed to "root out" the terrorists, while a statement issued from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's office said, "We will face the curse of terrorism with unity and strength."

What is Operation Bam?

'Operation Bam' is a declared military operation of the Baloch Liberation Front against the Government of Pakistan, launched on July 8, 2025. The BLF describes it as a "new dawn" of the Baloch national liberation struggle. The operation aims to launch deadly attacks across a large area from the Makran coastal area to the Koh-e-Sulaiman Mountains. A Geo News report quoted BLF spokesperson Major Gwaharam Baloch as saying that the operation has been launched to demonstrate the extensive military capability of the Baloch fighters.

Rapid attacks in four days

Just hours after the start of Operation Bam, the BLF claimed responsibility for 17 attacks in Panjpur, Surab, Kech and Kharan. According to a report by news agency ANI, Major Gwaharam claimed that more than 70 attacks have been carried out in four days. These attacks targeted Pakistani security forces and economic interests, disrupting connectivity and rail services. Notably, key sections of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have also been affected.

Aim of Baloch fighters

The Baloch Liberation Front demands independence for Balochistan. The organization has been accusing the Pakistan government of seizing the natural resources of the region since 1964 and violating the basic rights of the local people. Historically, Balochistan was declared an independent state at the time of independence from British India, but was incorporated into Pakistan in 1948. Since then, the Baloch community has been struggling to demand independence.
