Jagga Jasoos: Hundreds of films are made in Bollywood every year, but only a few of them make a mark at the box office. The rest of the films either perform averagely or prove to be flops. However, when big superstars are cast in a film, the producers hope that at least their budget will be recovered. But in 2017, a film was released which had two big superstars, great visuals and was decorated with 29 songs, yet it failed miserably at the box office. We are talking about Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Jagga Jasoos', which did not win the hearts of the audience despite a budget of 131 crores and went into a huge loss.Big budget disaster film'Jagga Jasoos' was directed by Anurag Basu, who had earlier given a superhit film like 'Barfi' with Ranbir Kapoor. But when this film was released in theaters on 14 July 2017, it was rejected by the audience. Made on a budget of 131 crores, the film collected only 69 crores in India, while it could only reach 86 crores worldwide. The film suffered heavy losses and became one of the lowest grossing films of the year 2017. This year, Prabhas starrer 'Bahubali 2' rocked the box office and became the highest grossing film of the year. The story of the film could not appeal to the audienceThe story of 'Jagga Jasoos' was about a teenage detective (Ranbir Kapoor) who sets out on a mission to find his missing father. The script of the film was presented in a unique way and 29 songs were added to it. It was a musical adventure film, but this experiment did not work. The audience was confused by its complex storytelling, long runtime and excessive songs. Apart from this, Ranbir and Katrina had broken up even before the release of the film, which also affected the promotion of the film. The biggest flop of Ranbir Kapoor's careerRanbir Kapoor also debuted as a producer of the film, but this decision proved to be costly for him. When the film flopped, he openly expressed his grief. In an interview, Ranbir had said,"'Jagga Jasoos' was very close to my heart. I had a lot of expectations from this film, but it did not do well at the box office. I still regret it."What was the reason for the failure?
- Over experimental storytelling: The film was made in a musical style, which could not connect with the Indian audience.
- Long runtime and complex screenplay: The audience had difficulty understanding the story of the film.
- Weak promotion despite the pairing of superstars: Ranbir-Katrina's breakup affected the promotion of the film.
- Pressure of expensive budget: The budget of the film was so high that even the average earnings could not make it successful.
