New Delhi: Sunil Jakhar, once a strong leader of Congress in Punjab, has now joined BJP. Starting this new political innings, Sunil Jakhar attacked the Congress. He said that three generations of my family served the Congress for 50 years. But today I broke this relationship for the sake of nationalism, unity and brotherhood of Punjab.

Sunil Jakhar said that, I am fighting for the brotherhood of Punjab. The work which a bullet from a gun cannot do, was done by the Congress language by saying that a person of a particular community cannot be elected chief minister. He not only insulted Hindu brothers but also insulted Sikh brothers.

Sunil Jakhar was removed from the post to make Navjot Singh Sidhu the chief of Punjab Congress. After the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh from the post of CM, there was a preparation to make Jakhar the CM. But Ambika Soni vetoed Jakhar's candidature by arguing 'Sikh State Sikh CM'. He is upset that the Congress talked about Hindu-Sikh in Punjab for the first time. He is a Punjabi Hindu and there has never been such discrimination in Punjab.

At the same time, Sunil Jakhar had criticized former CM Charanjit Singh Channi after the defeat in the assembly elections in Punjab. Following this, the Congress last month removed him from all posts for alleged anti-party activities.

Sunil Jakhar had resigned from the party on May 14 during a Facebook Live during the Congress's Chintan Shivir in Udaipur. He praised Rahul Gandhi and advised him to stay away from sycophants.
