Holi 2023: Another case of attack on Hindu students has come to light on the occasion of Holi in Pakistan. After Pakistan's Punjab University, Hindu students were also targeted for playing Holi in Karachi University. According to media reports, the students who organized the Holi festival said that they belong to the Sindhi department and were harassed for the festival organized by them.

'Many boys came and stopped us'

According to a report, they alleged that while we were celebrating Holi, several boys from the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) came and stopped us. They beat us and other students. Confirming this statement in a video statement, a girl student said that while she and her classmates were celebrating Holi, IJT members came and harassed them and beat up male students.

Order to investigate the matter

Apart from this, Sindh University Minister Ismail Rahu took cognizance of the incident and directed the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, to investigate the matter. Ismail said that the university administration should conduct an inquiry and submit a detailed report. He said that Hindu students have full permission to celebrate their festivals in the university and no one can stop them. Further said that our religion and law teaches to respect all religions and beliefs and gives complete freedom to people to celebrate their festivals.

Nothing to do with the incident: IJT

However, the IJT claimed that it had nothing to do with the incident. IJT spokesperson Basik Naeem said the student body was not involved in the thrashing of the students. He said that we respect all religions.

Earlier attack in Punjab University

Earlier, several videos went viral on social media showing Hindu community students being thrashed for celebrating Holi at the Panjab University campus in Lahore. At least 15 students from the Hindu community were injured during the attack, against which an application has been filed with the police to register a case. IJT activists on Monday attacked a gathering of students at the new campus of Panjab University when they were celebrating Holi with the permission of the administration. According to the report, some other videos also showed security guards beating students with batons, who were seen running away from the scene.
