Lok Sabha Election: Samajwadi Party may change its candidate from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat. According to sources, party chief Akhilesh Yadav himself may contest elections from Kannauj. He can file nomination from here tomorrow. Earlier, Samajwadi Party had made former MP Tej Pratap Yadav, son-in-law of Lalu Prasad Yadav, its candidate from Kannauj. Tej Pratap is a part of Akhilesh Yadav's family. He has been an MP from Mainpuri. BJP has once again made Subrata Pathak its candidate from here. He is the current MP from here.

Became MP after winning the by-election

When Mulayam Singh Yadav won from Mainpuri and Azamgarh, he left the Mainpuri seat. SP made Tej Pratap its candidate in the by-election and he won and reached Parliament. After this, SP did not give him ticket from anywhere.

Tej Pratap Yadav was made candidate on Monday

Earlier on Monday, Samajwadi Party (SP) had announced the names of candidates for Ballia and Kannauj seats for the Lok Sabha elections. Former MP Tej Pratap Yadav was declared candidate from Kannauj and Sanatan Pandey from Ballia.

Tej Pratap is the grandson of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Tej Pratap Yadav, grandson of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and son-in-law of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) founder and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been MP from Mainpuri from 2014 to 2019. In the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Subrata Pathak of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defeated Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav from Kannauj seat. SP had also fielded Sanatan Pandey as its candidate from Ballia in the 2019 general elections but he had to face defeat from BJP's Virendra Singh Mast.
