Akhilesh Yadav Nominates Pawan Pandey for Ayodhya Seat on Janeshwar Mishra Anniversary

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, made a significant political announcement on Wednesday during a public gathering in Lucknow. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late socialist thinker Janeshwar Mishra, Yadav declared that Pawan Pandey would be the Samajwadi Party candidate for the Ayodhya Sadar assembly seat. This announcement is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time Akhilesh Yadav has publicly named a candidate for a specific seat in view of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The Strategic Choice of Pawan Pandey for Ayodhya

Pawan Pandey has been a consistent face for the Samajwadi Party in the Ayodhya Sadar constituency. He has been contesting from this seat since 2012. While he saw success in the past, he faced defeats in the subsequent 2017 and 2022 assembly elections. By naming him early for the 2027 polls, Akhilesh Yadav has signaled his confidence in Pandey's leadership and the party's intent to reclaim the prestigious Ayodhya seat. During the Brahmin Sabha, Yadav confidently stated that Pawan Pandey is going to win from Ayodhya this time, highlighting the party's renewed focus on the region.

Redefining PDA: Inclusion of Brahmins

In his address, Akhilesh Yadav took a sharp aim at the ruling BJP government while discussing his PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula. He provided a new interpretation of the acronym, stating that in PDA, the letter P also stands for Pandit (Brahmins). He asserted that the more the BJP increases the suffering of the people, the stronger the PDA alliance will become, while yadav claimed that people in Uttar Pradesh have been persecuted under the current regime and cited various incidents to support his argument. He specifically mentioned the controversial car overturning incident, suggesting that it wasn't just a vehicle that was overturned, but a move to save the government, while he added that if satellite images were to be examined, the truth about who overturned the vehicle would be revealed.

Legacy of Janeshwar Mishra and Socialist Principles

The Samajwadi Party is celebrating the birth anniversary of Janeshwar Mishra as a major festival. Akhilesh Yadav emphasized that Mishra wasn't just a socialist thinker but a leader who practiced socialist principles in his own life, working to unite everyone without discrimination, while yadav expressed his frustration over being denied permission to hold the event at Janeshwar Mishra Park, which forced the party to organize the program at the party office. However, he remained defiant, stating that the mission of Janeshwar Mishra wouldn't stop and would continue to move forward, while he also drew a comparison with Dr. Lohia Park, noting that while it was small, the Samajwadi government built the largest park in the country in the name of Chhote Lohia (Janeshwar Mishra).

Brahmin Outreach and Religious Concerns

The event saw a significant presence of Brahmin leaders, including MP Sanatan Pandey and Mata Prasad Pandey. Although Vinay Shankar Tiwari wasn't on the stage, the gathering was seen as a clear message to the Brahmin community that their relationship with the Samajwadi Party dates back to the era of Janeshwar Mishra. Yadav also raised concerns regarding religious figures, stating that history has never seen a Shankaracharya being stopped from taking a holy bath, yet this government did so, while he mentioned that the Shankaracharya had to protest, but his concerns were ignored. Plus, he alleged that the government insulted young priests (Batuks) and even used the POCSO Act to intimidate the Shankaracharya, while the Samajwadi Party has always worked to respect them.

Criticism of Government Conduct and Youth Issues

Akhilesh Yadav didn't hold back in his criticism of the government's administrative failures and its treatment of the public. He mentioned an instance where people from Kushinagar were allegedly made to bathe before they were allowed to meet government officials, while he also pointed out errors in an English question paper where several mistakes were found in 135 questions. Yadav praised the youth and Main Street Journalists for standing up against the government's negative politics. He concluded by invoking the legendary friendship of Krishna and Sudama, stating that their bond is thousands of years old and that as friends, they don't care for anyone's opposition. He predicted that the upcoming elections would reveal the extent of public dissatisfaction through the votes cast against the current administration.
