HIV AIDS is a very contagious and life-threatening disease, which is caused by infection with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and until now it was considered incurable, but in the meantime scientists have got great success and American scientists have developed a disease. A woman infected with HIV has been treated with new technology.

First time woman's HIV was cured

A woman infected with HIV in America has fully recovered and has become the first woman to be cured of HIV. Let us tell you that so far only three people have been cured of HIV in the world.

Before this only 2 people were fine

Earlier, only 2 people were able to be cured of HIV. Timothy Ray Brown, known as The Burnill Patient, remained free of the virus for 12 years and died of cancer in 2020. In the year 2019, Adam Castilejo, who was infected with HIV, was also successfully treated.

How was the woman treated?

According to the news of the New York Times, researchers told that this woman was treated through a stem cell transplant. Stem cells were donated by a person who had natural resistance against the HIV virus.

Umbilical cord ie umbilical cord blood was used in stem cell transplant. In this technique, there is no need to mix umbilical cord stem cells with the donor as much as in a bone marrow transplant.

HIP was detected in 2013

The information about the woman being infected with HIV was received in the year 2013. Four years later, she was diagnosed with leukemia. This blood cancer was treated through haplo-cord transplant, in which cord blood was taken from a partially matched donor. During this, close relatives of the woman also donated blood to her to increase immunity. The woman was transplanted for the last time in the year 2017 and in the last 4 years she has been completely cured of leukemia. Three years after the transplant, the doctors also stopped the treatment of her HIV and till now she has not come again in the grip of any virus.
