Congress leader Aqeel Ahmed, who came into the limelight for demanding the establishment of Muslim University in Uttarakhand, finally got discharged from the party on this issue. He has been expelled from the primary membership of Congress for six years on charges of indiscipline.

A letter of expulsion of Aqeel Ahmed was issued on behalf of the party's general secretary organization Mathuradutt Joshi late on Monday evening. It said that unrestrained rhetoric was being made by Aqeel Ahmed in the media during and after the assembly elections, due to which the image of the party has been damaged.

A show-cause notice was also issued by the party in this regard on February 8, but unrestrained rhetoric continued on behalf of Aqeel even after this. Which has been taken seriously by the central leadership. Therefore, taking disciplinary action against Aqeel Ahmed, he has been expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years.

Muslim University will remain as it is now: Aqeel

He said that now a Muslim University will remain in Uttarakhand. Even if it has to collect donations from the people of the society. Showing a rebellious attitude, he said that he will demand ticket from Haridwar Lok Sabha on this issue. If the party does not give ticket, he will contest as an independent. Aqeel has also responded to Harish Rawat's allegation in which he has accused some people of trying to defeat his daughter. Aqeel said that he did the job of not defeating Harish Rawat's daughter. He said that in the 2017 elections, he had not given any statement, then why did the Congress lose? How did the then Chief Minister get defeated by two seats each?

Muslim University demand was a general demand like other demands: Aqeel

Aqeel said that he was seeking ticket from Sahaspur assembly constituency in the elections. If he did not get the ticket, he filled the form as an independent. After this senior party leaders and observer Mohan Prakash Joshi came to persuade him. Then he handed over the indent of ten demands related to the area to the party leaders.
