The company has said in a statement that it is shutting down its video sharing platform IGTV app. The IGTV app was launched by Instagram in 2018. During that time the company introduced the IGTV app in comparison to YouTube, but now after about four years, the company is shutting it down. The format of the IGTV app was vertical.

The company wants to focus on the reels

In 2020, Instagram introduced Reels after the ban of Chinese short video app Tiktok in India. Reels has become the leading short video platform in the Indian market today. Regarding Reels, recently the company has said that it is soon going to release an advertising feature for it, after which the reels creators will also start earning. Currently, there is no such facility as monetization with Reels. According to the company, advertisements will soon be seen in the videos of the reels.

Reels launched in 150 countries only last month

Facebook launched its short video platform Reels last month in 150 countries. Meta had given this information through a blog. Meta has said that it will also introduce new features for creators to earn. According to meta, reels users will get bonus.

Apart from this, advertisements will be shown in the middle of the video which will be in the form of banners and stickers. Full screen advertisements in the reels will also be released soon. Facebook users will also get to see the reels soon. There is a possibility that Reels may be launched instead of Facebook's Stories feature. Users can also get to see reels in the news feed as a suggestion.
