New Delhi: Another jugalbandi of Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee arrested in West Bengal teacher recruitment scam has come to the fore. According to this, both of them jointly own property in Shantiniketan. According to the information, this farmhouse was bought in 2012. Earlier in the day, the ED had started the process of freezing at least three bank accounts of Arpita Mukherjee, an aide of suspended TMC leader Partha Chatterjee. The investigating agency has received at least two crore rupees in these accounts. A senior official of the agency gave this information on Saturday.

The name of the farmhouse was changed

Arpita Mukherjee and Partha Chatterjee bought this farmhouse 10 years ago. According to Aaj Tak, the documents that have been recovered in this regard prove that after the purchase of the farmhouse, its name was also changed. Both renamed it as A-pa. It means being taken out as Arpita-Parth. At the same time, according to ED officials, the bank accounts of many fake companies of Mukherjee are also under the scanner of the ED. The process of freezing Mukherjee's three bank accounts has started, the official said. A total of about two crore rupees have been received in these accounts. We suspect that these accounts were used to carry out multiple transactions and further investigation is underway.

Still to decide to freeze

While not giving details of the amount received from the accounts, the official said that a decision on freezing the bank accounts of the fake companies is yet to be taken. He said that we have sought the details of these bank accounts from the officials concerned. We will take any decision on further course of action after examining the accounts. The ED said that interrogation of Mukherjee would continue to find out whether he had more bank accounts. According to sources, Chatterjee's bank accounts are also being probed. Sources also said that both Mukherjee and Chatterjee are being questioned since morning. The ED had seized a huge amount of jewelery and foreign currency besides cash worth Rs 50 crore from two flats of Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee. Both will remain in the custody of the central agency till August 3.
