In Malda, West Bengal, the police has made a sensational disclosure in the case of murder of four family members including mother and father. According to the police, accused Asif Mohammad had taken all the family members to the basement of the house on the pretext of getting photographed and killed everyone by drowning them in a wooden structure. West Bengal Police suspects that a property dispute could be the main reason behind this massacre in Gurutola village of Kaliachak. But said that this is not the conclusion as the investigation is still on. Malda Rural Additional Superintendent of Police Anish Sarkar said that Asif's friends Sabir Ali (19) and Mohammad Maruf (21) have also been arrested. Five pistols, 80 cartridges and 10 magazines were recovered from them.

The murder accused had handed over these weapons to him a week ago. Sarkar said, "However, 19-year-old Asif is the only accused in the murder. No association has been found between weapons and murder. We are finding out from where he had collected these pistols and cartridges. Based on a complaint by Arif Mohammad, elder brother of the murder accused, police on Saturday excavated four bodies from inside the room of a house in Gurutola village and arrested Asif. Preliminary investigation revealed that on February 28, Asif gave sleeping pills mixed with cold drinks to his father Javed Ali (50), mother Ira Bibi (45), sister Arifa Khatoon (17) and grandmother Alekjan Bibi (75), which Everyone fainted after drinking.

Immersed by filling water in a wooden structure, taped in the mouth and tied hands

"On the pretext of getting photographed, Asif took them all to the basement inside the house and asked them to go inside the wooden structure. After this he put tape on everyone's mouth and tied the hands and after that filled the structure with water. After this the bodies were buried in the floor of a room. He said, “The accused had taken a lot of money from his father and was asking to transfer the entire property in his name. Prima facie it seems that property dispute could be a reason behind the murder, but this is not the conclusion as the investigation is on. Two lakh rupees have also been seized from him.

After 4 months, the dead body was removed from the basement, the elder brother had escaped

Asif's elder brother Arif somehow escaped from there and kept changing his whereabouts for four months and reported the incident to the police on Friday night. Several electronic devices have been confiscated from the house and a thorough investigation is on in the matter. Sarkar said, 'We have questioned Arif but nothing suspicious was found. Asif tried to kill his brother too, but he somehow managed to escape.

Asif was threatening to kill elder brother too

The accused was continuously threatening his elder brother, due to which he did not tell anyone about the incident for four months. Eventually he gathered courage and approached the police. Asif has been booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Two of his friends have been booked under the Arms Act.
