Delhi Election 2025: Ahead of the voting in Delhi on Wednesday, the politics of the capital has heated up. The news of Chief Minister Atishi's PA Pankaj being caught in Girikhand Nagar with Rs 15 lakh has stirred up the election atmosphere. Kejriwal accused of inflammatory statement regarding Yamuna water

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, in a recent statement, accused the Haryana government of poisoning the Yamuna water. After this statement, an FIR has been registered against Kejriwal under sections 192, 196 (1), 197 (1), 248 (a) and 299 of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of Jagmohan Manchanda, a resident of Shahabad, Haryana.

Complainant Jagmohan Manchanda said in his complaint that Kejriwal's statement has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and he has worked to provoke the people of two states.

What did Kejriwal say?

Arvind Kejriwal had said in his statement that the people of Delhi get drinking water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and the BJP government of Haryana has mixed poison in the Yamuna water and sent it to Delhi. He claimed that the engineers of Delhi Jal Board stopped it in time, otherwise a large number of people could have died in Delhi. He termed it as 'mass genocide'.

Reaction of political parties

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have reacted strongly to this statement of Kejriwal. Both the parties have alleged that Kejriwal made a serious and provocative statement without any proof, which can create fear and tension among the public. The Election Commission also took cognizance of this statement and sought an explanation from Kejriwal by January 29.

Haryana government's counterattack

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini rejected Kejriwal's allegations and said that he is trying to hide his failures by spreading false propaganda. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is spreading such rumors for electoral gain. He made this statement during a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Manoj Shaukeen in Delhi.
